FASTag Pay Highway Toll Online – To reduce vehicular traffic at the toll plazas, the Government of India (GOI) has mandated all toll plazas, pan India, to make toll payments electronic by Dec 01, 2019. With this mandate, all vehicles travelling through toll plazas will have to mandatorily pay toll charges using FASTag.
FASTag is a National Electronic Toll Collection program. A major initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). FASTag is employed for uninterrupted movement of traffic. It is currently operational at more than 450 toll plazas. In the future more toll plazas will be brought under the FASTag program. People can now breathe a sigh of relief as there is no more waste of time while paying through FASTag. It is to be mandatory for all vehicles from December 1, 2019.

It is a Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) with reloadable tag linked to a prepaid account that allows automatic deduction of toll charges as you pass through the toll palza across national and state highways.

FASTag Pay Highway Toll Online – Documents Required
The users who need FASTag must submit the following documents for FASTag –
- A basic KYC details (name, mobile no.) etc
- Vehicle number
- Vehicle registration
- Vehicle registration certificate
- You have also got the facility to recharge it. The recharge can be done through various ways like – UPI / Credit Card / Debit / NEFT etc.
- The notification under the Government Gazette says that a vehicle entering the “FASTag Lane” without FASTag on the National Highway Toll Plaza, will be charged double the fee applicable for that category of vehicle.
Where is FASTag required now?
It is the need of the hour for the places which are full of traffic. Full fledged traffic leads to the wastage time and money both. Mumbai is the financial capital of India and loss of time here would hamper the economic progress of the country. So, Mumbai is the place where it very intensely required. Toll at NHs beyond Vasai Creek, Kharegaon toll plaza and Pune must be paid by FASTag from 1st December, 2019. In near future it will be extended to implemented to other toll plazas in Mumbai.
